LIFE IS GOOD

Today...was a "Hannah" day.

Just chillin' with me, myself and I.

IT WAS GLORIOUS.

There were pancakes. <3

On a whim, I decided to rewatch Sukisho. That series has stuck with me for a long time. Not quite sure why. But for some reason, it's the one series that I never go a day without thinking of.

When you evaluate the individual components, it seems to have every BL "soap opera" cliché in the book, but... I dunno, for some reason, when it's all put together, it really resonates with me.

Maybe it's the art style? The acting? The characters themselves? The in-your-face psychological drama? Can't put my finger on it. But every time I finish that final episode, I'm in the best mood of my life.

What about y'all? Is there any specific series you follow that has a special place in your heart, unconditionally?

I'd be curious to hear. I bet I can guess some of your answers, but I look forward to being surprised, too!

It's Digimon for me. It's been that way for nine years. No matter what, I think about it at least once a year.

But I really want to rewatch Sukisho. People may call it cliche and all that nice stuff, but I love it so.

Kyou Kara Maou. I've been obsessed with it for years now, and I don't think I'll ever stop... even if I get really, really annoyed by some things nowadays. XD;

And Yami no Matsuei.

And The Tudors.

The obvious one is Digimon, and it's absolutely the truth, but the other one is shockingly Yu-Gi-Oh. There were just so many great characters and moments in that show and the one thing it will always have over Digimon was its beautiful ending. The writer had a vision and knew from the start of where he wanted to go and he made it there after a long struggle, one that made the ending really seem meaningful and it was heartbreaken because you knew (and the characters knew) that it had to end that way but, God, did they want it to be any other way. But the end where Yuugi can stand on his own two feet and in some ways is better than Atemu and Atemu's struggle and imprisionment is over and he finally gets to be put to rest and the others have to send him off even though they don't want to... That's an ending that resonated with me. It also meant a lot to me because of the timing; the English finale aired on my 13th birthday and it was the last of my childhood fandoms to come to an end, so. It's always been really special to me.

Also gotta give a shout-out to LAIN. It was one of my first anime that I ever saw and WOW was it a doozy. So amazing. *A*

Outlaw star has always been that way with me. The very first time I finished it, it almost felt like my best friend had left me forever. I was like "wait... I DON'T WANT IT TO BE OVER!! D:" It's like... everything I wish I could be. i want to have that kind of freedom.

Not to mention, I always wanted to write a space odyssey like that. XD I was working on one called Lost Past and it had some really kick-ass characters (I even wrote and recorded the theme song), but I never could work out the plot. It was really complex and I'm not a very good writer. :/

Some others that resonate with me are Trigun and Death Note, though NOT in the same way. Trigun just makes me really happy and kind of philosophical whereas Death Note makes me hold my breath and after I'm done watching it, it's like my mind is as clear as a crystal.

Well, definitely Kyou Kara Maou.

Cowboy Bebop and Azumanga Daioh. I really love the characters on these shows. The music, artwork and humor in Cowboy Bebop. Azumanga is of course just Azumazing. I felt really sad at the end of both series since in both the cast gets scattered making the time they stayed together feel so brief and momentary.

But I think what I like most of all is the nonsense in all three.

PANCAKES ON A YOU DAY IS ALWAYS GOOD. I'M GLAD YOU HAD A GOOD DAY.

Harry Potter. Because it was my first serious fandom. I've been reading slash since 2001. I've NEVER been innocent! XD I probably will never fall out of love with it. The fics that I've read from that fandom are amazing and so far even with the rest of the fandoms I've been, none of them have been able to reach their level of amazingness.

The rest are Gundam 00 and Arashi. There isn't a day that goes by I don't talk about Arashi since I started to like them. &hearts

AND NSYNC SLASH... XDDD YES NO LIE. I WAS A HUGE NSYNC FAN. I STILL LOVE THEM

LOL Sukisho. LOLOLOLOLOLOL.

...I have a lot of them, but among the first-and-foremost would be Slayers (it's just...fun. There's nothing really deep about it, but it will make me laugh like no other series can!), Kyou Kara Maou!, D-Gray.man, FullMetal Alchemist (both the anime and the manga, I think! They're so different, but both have really moving parts), Saiyuki, Smallville, Suikoden, Full Metal Panic!, and Gundam 00 *needs to breathe, lolz*. :D

Oh, and I forgot Nabari no Ou! I like that one a lot too, even though I'm not even sure WHY. O_O;

watching Ouran never fails to make me happy :D it's actually the only complete anime series on my ipod now so whenever i'm bored i'd just watch any episode

:D and then there's kyou kara maou, which is a staple. i have the last three episodes in my ipod too :D

my recent favorite would be to toward the terra (but it makes my heartache so so much i think it'll be a long time before i rewatch it ^^)

I'd say probably Kyo Kara Maoh and Junjo Romantica. Even though there are series that I objectively know are better (Ergo Proxy, Gankutsuou, DTB, etc...), and that, in many ways, I like a lot better than KKM and JR, I can watch those two over and over and over again.

I think that a lot of it has to do with the characters and the voice acting. I am a big fan of a lot of the voice actors in both series, and the characters and their antics make me smile every time I see them (except for the Junjo Terrorist episodes of JR -- I hate that pairing for no good reason). If I'm in a crappy mood, they both totally cheer me up.

Gakuen Heaven actually has a similar effect on me as well, but I haven't watched it for awhile -- even though it's one of the silliest series I've ever seen and I rarely admit how much I love it.

Kyou Kara Maou and Cardcaptor Sakura. Because Conrad/Yuuri is my OTP, and because CCS is just so much squee that I can't begin to describe it without going off on a long rant. :3

Slayers and Yugioh, although in the case of Yugioh it's mostly the fanon OTP of Bakura/Ryou that has stuck with me and still makes me happy. Of course, part of the reason I love them is because of my success writing fic for them. (Or maybe it's the other way around.)
I agree with ChasingPhantoms about the heartbreaking but perfect ending of Yugioh... but for me it's tainted with disappointment because of how Bakura's tragic side of things was handled. :(

I think Yami no Matsuei is another one, even though I don't watch it often. I listen to the music at least once a week, and I feel very attached to the characters. Oddly enough, I don't seem to want to write fic for it.

Pre-anime fandoms I still love: Lord of the Rings, which is more than a fandom to me; Blake's 7, Professionals, Randall & Hopkirk, and my first obsessive fandom love, Dark Shadows.

Too soon to say if KKM will stay with me. Ask me again in a year or so!

Oh gracious.

There are a few that I watch with unconditional love, and no matter how bad the dialogue is or how corny that music gets it makes me love it even more *-*

Yu Yu Hakusho, Fushigi Yuugi, and Lord of the Rings.

I'm so protective of those fandoms it's rediculous. Lord of the Rings was my first ever big fandom, so it hold a special place it my heart, along with every line from every movie, like seriously, I get really agressive when someone doesn't like it or makes fun of it O_o

And then Fushigi Yuugi was the first anime I EVER watched. For real. Who doesn't love the first one?

And Yu Yu Hakusho is just so glorious o_o I can hardly describe my love for this show.

Having me time is always awesome 8D

As for series that has a special place? Well, there's two. Doctor Who is obviously one, but it's not about the amazing brilliance of the plot or its characters, it's about the connection with my Dad. Just to share something that he enjoyed at my age and to sit down every saturday night and enjoy something with him is brilliant ♥ The other is Beyblade. It was my first serious fandom and while I've left because it's an utterly shit fandom, the show will always have a very special place with me. I love the characters to pieces; it was such a character-driven show, and my OTP from it while always remain one of my favourite for years because they were so beautiful ♥

Awww, I loved Sukisho. ♥

One that holds a special place, eh? Hmmm... I'm not sure. A lot of my first fandoms and obsessions are important to me for different reasons. A lot of "first times" for things, and such. I don't think I have one that stands above all the others. There are a lot of things I don't like about Naruto (lol, I know, Naruto) but I've been in the fandom since 1999 so that's probably the longest I've stayed active in something- and since I've been following it so long I don't think that will change until perhaps it ends. Tsubasa fandom I think brought me the most new online friends and largest boost in my enthusiasm for artwork, which is wonderful. Then KKM was really fun because of how interactive it was overall for me, until that humongous wank fallout back in the day. xD; Buuuut~

There's nothing I never go a day without thinking about though.... I'm a horribly scatterbrained and busy person, so I don't think there's ANYTHING I think about every day aside from my finances, actually. XD;;;;

IN A NUTSHELL: NOPE DON'T THINK I HAVE "ONE." Haha. orz
